Excelia is a Brazilian M&A and management consulting firm focused on middle-market companies. At Excelia, I have worked as an FP&A business partner executing the budgeting process for the clients, and I also worked as an M&A analyst. Due to the nature of my position, I had a lot of exposure and interface with partners and executives of different hierarchical levels to conduct project activities. I had active participation in two M&A processes, acting in negotiations with investors, in due diligence, in the execution of valuation (DCF - FCFF), and presentations (teaser, memorandum of information). In one of these M&A deals, of a distressed company, I was the lead analyst from the investor approach to the signing of the deal. I was also responsible for developing from scratch a budget model for an education services client alongside cash flow forecast, KPI reports, return on investment analysis, and market research. My detailed analysis was fundamental to cut costs and improve the EBITDA margin by 15%. In two business restructuring projects, I was responsible for FP&A analysis, calculating and monitoring EBITDA enhancement initiatives, cash flow projections, KPI reports, and board presentations.

I had joined Rabobank fixed income trading desk aiming to learn about financial instruments such as derivatives. After getting into the internship program, I quickly earned the traders' trust by my details' attention, and quality assurance. Because of that, I was, then, responsible for most of the controlling and reporting figures so that the trades could act upon it. The reports comprised: risks position -per risk factor and book-, operation's fixing, and PnL at the end of the day. I was also responsible for the data consistency of the managerial tools used by the traders and to book trades and make sure that it went through the chain of systems as supposed to. Besides, I have developed and enhanced several VBA tools to increase efficiency and promote daily activities more smoothly. One of the projects consisted of getting the real-time position of all the sales traders' trades and cross-check them with the traders' and the bank's system on which the trades were booked. At the Middle Office, my responsibilities included but were not limited to: P&L and risks calculation for the fixed income and commodities trading desks; setup of interest rate curves; positions consistency checks between FO, BO and Ledger systems; development of tools (Excel - VBA) to mitigate operational risks and have efficiency gains. I have worked alongside systems developers to find long-lasting solutions for system's bugs as well as he tested several system's updates before deploying to production therefore acting like an IT business partner.
